Equipment selection | Manufacturer reference and ProSense commentary

Specify equipment for irrigation zone water balance and flow monitoring: measurement requirements, interfaces, installation details and the information needed for a useful quotation.

Irrigation Zone Water Balance and Flow Monitoring planning overview

JUJEA lists agricultural irrigation among its flow-measurement applications. The following is an illustrative planning approach, not a report of a ProSense installation or verified water savings.

Start with flow conditions

Provide the pipe dimensions, water quality, minimum and maximum flow, operating pressure and installation location. The lowest normal zone flow matters as much as the peak. A meter selected only from pipe diameter may be unsuitable at the operating points the customer most needs to distinguish.

Match technology to the water and pipe

Compare candidate meter technologies against conductivity, suspended matter, pipe condition, full-pipe requirements and available installation lengths. An irrigation application does not make every meter appropriate for dirty water, open channels or intermittent partly filled pipes. Check the exact manufacturer's installation requirements.

Choose how totals reach the system

A pulse output needs compatible electrical characteristics and a documented volume per pulse. A serial interface needs the agreed protocol, register map and power arrangement. For wireless reporting, identify the interface device and the supported network. Specify which component retains a total if communications stop.

Send an installation-ready quotation brief

Include a marked pipe layout, meter locations, environmental protection needs, supply availability, output preference and the required logging interval. If an existing controller is involved, supply its input specifications. Ask the quote to identify fittings, configuration and installation exclusions so the complete measurement chain can be reviewed.
