ACREL ARD3M Motor Protection Controller with Modbus RTU
ACREL ARD3M Motor Protection Controller with Modbus RTU is designed for low-voltage motor circuits up to 660 V. It combines motor protection, measurement, control and communication in a single device, with programmable logic to support different motor control arrangements. The controller also provides communication options for integration with industrial automation and monitoring systems.
The suffix designation (e.g., -1, -25, -100, -800) generally denotes the rated current frame or matching external current transformer (CT) scale supported by the intelligent controller unit for comprehensive motor management.

The ACREL ARD3M Motor Protection Controller with Modbus RTU provides protection, monitoring and control for low-voltage motors up to 660 V. It supports motor operating currents from 0.1 A to 5,000 A depending on the selected current input arrangement. With 10 switching inputs, 6 outputs and two 4-20 mA analogue channels, the ARD3M can be incorporated into a range of industrial motor control systems.
Full product description
The ACREL ARD3M Motor Protection Controller with Modbus RTU is intended for industrial motor circuits where protection and motor control need to be combined with measurement and communication. Acrel specifies the unit for motor systems rated at AC 220 V, 380 V or 660 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
The controller supports several motor current ranges, including direct ranges and external current transformer configurations. This allows the device to be selected for motors across a broad current range, subject to the appropriate ARD3M configuration and current transformer arrangement.
How it works
- The ACREL ARD3M Motor Protection Controller with Modbus RTU monitors the electrical conditions of the connected motor circuit and provides protection and measurement functions.
- Motor current can be monitored across the specified current ranges, including applications using external current transformers.
- Programmable switching inputs and outputs allow the controller to interface with motor control circuits and other equipment.
- Communication interfaces allow operating information and control functions to be incorporated into an automation or monitoring system.
- Optional communication configurations are available for Profibus DPV1, Profinet and Modbus TCP, while two-channel Modbus RTU is supplied as standard.
Why choose this product?
- Combines motor protection, measurement, control and communication functions in one controller.
- Supports motor systems from AC 220 V to 660 V.
- Wide specified operating-current coverage from 0.1 A to 5,000 A through the available current input configurations.
- Provides multiple communication options for integration with industrial automation systems.
- Programmable inputs and outputs provide flexibility when designing motor control circuits.
- An optional 380 V auxiliary power module is available in addition to the standard auxiliary power configuration.
Benefits
The ACREL ARD3M Motor Protection Controller with Modbus RTU can reduce the number of separate monitoring and control components required within a motor control arrangement. Its communication capabilities also make it suitable where motor information needs to be made available to a PLC, supervisory system or other industrial network.
The combination of programmable I/O and communication options gives system designers flexibility when adapting the controller to different motor control architectures.
