ACREL Arc Fault Protection Relay for MV and LV Systems is a modular protection device for monitoring arc signals, current and voltage in 0.4 kV to 35 kV medium and low voltage distribution systems. It supports configurable arc protection logic, arc fault location, sensor and fibre link self-checking, fault recording and communication through supported protocols. Multiple ARB6 configurations are available with up to 30 arc sensor signal acquisition channels.

The ACREL Arc Fault Protection Relay for MV and LV Systems is designed for electrical distribution systems where rapid detection and monitoring of arc faults are required. It uses dedicated arc sensors together with electrical protection signals to monitor conditions within distribution equipment.

The ACREL Arc Fault Protection Relay for MV and LV Systems uses a modular architecture comprising power, CPU, arc acquisition, analogue acquisition, input/output, communication and human-machine interface modules. This allows the device to be configured for different system requirements and monitoring points.

The relay is specified for 0.4 kV to 35 kV medium and low voltage distribution systems and can be used for monitoring areas such as busbar rooms, handcart rooms and cable rooms.

How it works

  • Arc sensors detect the light associated with an arc fault and send the signal to the protection device.
  • The ARB6 can evaluate the arc signal together with current or voltage criteria, depending on the configured protection arrangement.
