Rain & Snow Detection Sensor – RS485 Modbus or Relay Output, IP68 Outdoor Rated

The Rain & Snow Detection Sensor is a rugged, industrial precipitation detector engineered for continuous outdoor monitoring. Designed for integration into automation, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure systems, it provides fast and reliable detection of rain, snow, and storm activity.

Unlike traditional DC sensing methods, this sensor uses AC excitation technology, preventing electrode oxidation and ensuring long-term stability in humid and corrosive environments. This makes it suitable for permanent outdoor installations where reliability is critical.

The unit is available with either RS485 (Modbus RTU) communication for digital integration into PLC, RTU, SCADA, and BMS systems, or a relay/switch output for simple on/off control logic.

An optional integrated heating function enables accurate snow detection in freezing climates. The controlled heating element prevents icing and condensation, ensuring continuous performance without dry oxidation. Heating temperature is factory-limited to approximately 40°C for safe operation and long-term durability.

With an IP68 protection rating, the sensor is suitable for exposed installation in harsh environments including agriculture, aquaculture, construction sites, transport infrastructure, and smart city projects.
