ProSight Universal Isolated Head-Mount Temperature Transmitter 4–20mA is an isolated head-mount temperature transmitter that converts thermocouple and RTD temperature signals into a standardized 2-wire 4–20 mA output. It is designed for industrial temperature measurement and signal transmission to PLCs, DCS systems, controllers, indicators, and other process automation equipment. Key features include universal programmable inputs, 1500 VAC input/output isolation, built-in thermocouple cold-junction compensation, PC configuration, 0.1% FS accuracy, and 24 VDC loop power.

The ProSight Universal Isolated Head-Mount Temperature Transmitter 4–20mA is a compact industrial temperature signal converter designed to be installed inside a suitable sensor or thermocouple connection head. It receives temperature measurements from compatible thermocouples or RTD sensors and converts them into a standardized 2-wire 4–20 mA current signal that can be transmitted to a PLC, DCS, SCADA system, temperature controller, data acquisition system, or panel meter.

The ProSight Universal Isolated Head-Mount Temperature Transmitter 4–20mA features a universal, programmable temperature input, supporting 8 thermocouple types and 2 RTD types. The input configuration can be programmed using PC software through a serial interface and serial-to-USB cable. For thermocouple applications, built-in cold-junction compensation helps improve measurement accuracy by accounting for the reference-junction temperature.

A key advantage of the ProSight Universal Isolated Head-Mount Temperature Transmitter 4–20mA is its 1500 VAC input-to-output electrical isolation, which helps reduce the effects of ground loops and electrical interference and provides separation between the sensor circuit and the receiving control system. The transmitter operates from a DC supply and provides a loop-compatible 4–20 mA output for reliable transmission over industrial distances.

How Does It Work?

  • Temperature sensing – A compatible thermocouple or RTD sensor measures the process temperature.
  • Signal input – The sensor signal is connected to the MTR330's universal programmable input.
  • Signal processing – The transmitter interprets the sensor signal according to the configured input type and measurement range.
  • Temperature compensation – For thermocouple inputs, built-in cold-junction compensation helps compensate for reference-junction temperature effects.
  • Electrical isolation – The input and output circuits are electrically isolated, with isolation specified at 1500 VAC.
  • Signal conversion – The measured temperature is converted into a proportional 4–20 mA output.
  • System transmission – The 4–20 mA signal is sent to a PLC, DCS, SCADA, indicator, controller, or other compatible receiving instrument.

Why Choose this Product?

  • Universal sensor compatibility – Supports multiple thermocouple and RTD sensor types.
  • Flexible programming – Input type and configuration can be programmed through PC software.
  • Electrical isolation – 1500 VAC input/output isolation helps reduce ground-loop problems and protect connected control equipment.
  • Standard 4–20 mA output – Provides a widely accepted industrial signal for process control and monitoring.
  • Compact head mounting – Designed for installation within a compatible temperature sensor connection head.
  • Built-in cold-junction compensation – Supports more reliable thermocouple measurement.
  • High accuracy – Specification lists approximately 0.1% FS accuracy.
  • Fast response – Response time is specified at less than 1 second for up to 90% response.
  • Simple integration – 2-wire 4–20 mA output is suitable for many existing industrial control systems.
  • PC configurability – Allows flexible configuration without requiring a separate transmitter for every sensor type.
