DRAGINO Solar Powered LoRa Mesh End Node
DRAGINO Solar Powered LoRa Mesh End Node is a general-purpose LoRa Mesh Node designed for outdoor IoT applications requiring low-power operation and extended network coverage. It uses a solar panel and 3000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery and can communicate directly with a Mesh gateway or relay data through other Mesh Nodes. The node provides multiple I/O resources, including digital I/O, OneWire, UART and I2C, allowing supported external sensors and devices to be connected when compatible firmware is installed.
The DRAGINO Solar Powered LoRa Mesh End Node is a general-purpose Mesh Node intended for outdoor IoT applications where long-range wireless communication, low power consumption and multi-hop coverage are required.
Unlike a dedicated sensor node, the standard DRAGINO Solar Powered LoRa Mesh End Node does not have a fixed external sensor function. Its hardware provides several I/O resources that can be used with supported sensor-specific firmware, making the platform suitable for customised monitoring projects.
The node uses a solar panel with a 3000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery. After enrolment, it normally wakes according to its reporting schedule, communicates with the Mesh gateway and then returns to a low-power state. Data can reach the gateway directly or through other awake Mesh Nodes acting as relays.
How it works
- The DRAGINO Solar Powered LoRa Mesh End Node operates as a Mesh Node within a Dragino Mesh network.
- It can communicate directly with a Mesh gateway or use other Mesh Nodes for multi-hop communication.
- The standard firmware reports battery voltage, battery level and operating status.
- When compatible sensor-specific firmware is installed, supported external sensors can be powered, read and reported through the available interfaces.
- The node uses scheduled wake-up and reporting followed by low-power sleep to reduce energy consumption.
Why choose this product
- Provides a general-purpose platform rather than being limited to one fixed sensor.
- Supports multiple interface types for compatible external devices.
- Mesh networking can extend communication beyond the direct radio range of an individual node.
- Solar charging and a rechargeable battery support long-term outdoor deployments.
- Firmware can be updated through USB serial or PC BLE according to the manufacturer's documentation.
Benefits
The DRAGINO Solar Powered LoRa Mesh End Node provides flexibility for IoT projects that require different types of external sensing or digital devices. Its multi-hop Mesh architecture can also be useful where direct communication with a gateway is not available from every monitoring point.
Its low-power operating approach, combined with solar charging, reduces the need for permanent wired power at the installation point. The available interfaces also allow the node to be adapted to supported sensor configurations rather than requiring a separate wireless node for every application.
