DRAGINO LoRaWAN Water Leak Detection Sensor is a wireless LoRaWAN water leak sensor designed to detect the presence of water using two metal probes. When water bridges the probes, the sensor identifies a leak event and transmits the information to an IoT server through a LoRaWAN network. It can also record the number of leak events and the duration of the most recent event, making it suitable for remote monitoring applications where early detection and event history are important.

The DRAGINO LoRaWAN Water Leak Detection Sensor provides wireless monitoring of water leakage in connected monitoring and control systems. Its external metal probes detect water when the liquid creates an electrical connection between the two probe contacts.

When a leak is detected, the DRAGINO LoRaWAN Water Leak Detection Sensor  can transmit an event to the connected IoT platform through a LoRaWAN network. The device also records the number of water leak events and calculates the duration of the most recent leak.

The DRAGINO LoRaWAN Water Leak Detection Sensor uses LoRaWAN v1.0.3 Class A communication and supports multiple regional frequency bands. It is supplied with preloaded LoRaWAN registration keys, allowing the device to be registered with a compatible LoRaWAN network server before operation.

How it works

  • Two external metal probes are positioned where water leakage is likely to occur.
  • When water comes into contact with both probes, the probes form an electrical connection.
  • The DRAGINO LoRaWAN Water Leak Detection Sensor recognises this condition as a water leak event.
  • The sensor sends the event information to an IoT server through the LoRaWAN network.
  • It can also send periodic status information and record the total number of leak events and the duration of the latest event.

Why choose this product?

  • Wireless LoRaWAN communication - allows water leak information to be transmitted without a wired signal connection to the monitoring system.
  • Event-based reporting - the sensor can transmit when a water leak occurs rather than relying solely on scheduled reporting.
  • Leak history - the device records the number of water leak events and the duration of the latest event.
  • Long operating life - Dragino specifies approximately 16,000 to 70,000 uplink packets from two AAA batteries, corresponding to an estimated 2 to 10 years of battery life depending on operating conditions and reporting behaviour.
  • Remote configuration - parameters can be adjusted using LoRaWAN downlink commands.
  • Multiple frequency options - versions are available for several LoRaWAN regional frequency bands.
