ACREL 120 x 50II Current Transformer for Electrical Monitoring
ACREL 120 x 50II Current Transformer for Electrical Monitoring is a solid-core AC current transformer with a horizontal square aperture designed for measuring current in busbar and cable installations. The 120 x 50II version provides a 122 x 53 mm through opening and is available with several primary current ratios from 500/5 A up to 5000/5 A. Acrel specifies the series for use with electrical measuring instruments, energy meters and relays.
The ACREL 120 x 50II Current Transformer for Electrical Monitoring is part of Acrel's AKH-0.66/II range of closed-loop measurement current transformers. Its horizontal square aperture allows the conductor or busbar arrangement to pass through the transformer without requiring a conventional circular opening.
For the 120 x 50II configuration, Acrel specifies a 122 x 53 mm through opening and primary current ratios from 500/5 A to 5000/5 A. The secondary side is rated at 5 A for the configurations listed by the manufacturer.
How it works
- The primary conductor passes through the current transformer's aperture.
- The transformer senses the magnetic field produced by the AC current flowing through the conductor.
- The transformer provides a proportionally reduced secondary current for connection to compatible measurement or control equipment.
- The 120 x 50II version supports one straight-through busbar arrangement using a 120 x 10 mm bus specification, with 1-3 bars indicated by Acrel.
Why choose this product
- Designed specifically for AC current measurement in electrical distribution equipment.
- The square aperture accommodates busbars as well as multiple cables.
- The 120 x 50II format provides a relatively large through opening for higher-current installations.
- Multiple primary ratios are available within the same physical size.
- Suitable for use with compatible energy meters, electrical measuring instruments and relays.
Benefits
- Provides a standardised secondary current signal for electrical measurement systems.
- Allows current measurement without placing the full primary current directly through the measuring instrument.
- The through-type construction suits busbar and cable installations.
- A range of current ratios allows the transformer to be matched to different primary current levels.
